LMH is a friendly college in a beautiful location. The atmosphere is more informal than some Oxford colleges (though there are some Harry Potter moments, for those who like them).
The college is set in spacious gardens, bordered by the River Cherwell and the University Parks. Lady Margaret Hall is home to just over 600 students – undergraduates and graduates – most of whom live within the college, and most academic faculties and departments are no more than a few minutes walk or cycle away. Foundation Year students will become part of the college community.
Students who study at LMH work with tutors in small groups and receive teaching which is personally tailored to them. This approach to learning helps students thrive academically.
The Foundation Year is being established to ensure that no-one is excluded from the benefits of this Oxford education due to their class, ethnicity or financial situation. This maintains the tradition of LMH which was founded in 1878 to allow women – then excluded – to receive an Oxford education.
